5494 - I2C: What is difference between option "I2C Erase,Program,Verify,Feature" and option "I2C Program Feature Row"?
Description:
The I2C Erase, Program, Verify option requires that the Feature Row be programmed prior to the execution of the "I2C Erase, Program, Verify" operation. This operation checks for the Feature Row match between the device and the JED file, and only if they match, the programming will proceed further. If they do not match the programming will terminate.
Solution:
This Operation does not erase or program the Feature-Row. If using this operation, then the Feature Row setting on the device and the Feature Row setting in the JED file must be same. Use this operation during field upgrades, when there is change only in the design, and not in the Feature-Row Persistence setting. While the I2C Erase, Program, Verify, Feature operation does not check for Feature-Row match before programming the flash via I2C. The flow itself will program the Feature Row.
