7765 - QuestaSim: simulation takes long and error out "failed to start simulation kernel"
Description:
Users try to run any simulation with QuestaSim. It will take a long time to run, possibly hours. It eventually errors out "failed to start simulation kernel".
Solution:
Please try the following steps. If the problem persists, you may file a TechSupport ticket:
- Try turning off your VPN.
- It is possible that the user's VPN is changing or blocking our license vendor, Flexnet, from using TCP/IP sockets to communicate with a license server and specific ports.
According to some online forums, this could be caused by the vsimk.exe program.
Try clicking on <radiant_installation_path>/questasim/win64/vsimk.exe to see if it launches anything or if there is any useful error message.
Use the "restart" command to restart the simulation kernel and rerun:

Reinstall Radiant
