DisplayPort TX IP Version 2.1.0 does not support back-to-back video input without blanking interval

DisplayPort TX IP Version 2.1.0 does not support back-to-back video input without blanking interval

Description

DisplayPort TX IP version 2.1.0 requires the video input to provide blanking interval between active horizontal video lines to ensure correct video data packing.

Failure symptoms include no video image output or black screen, even though link training completes successfully on the connected sink device.

In most cases where the input originates from a proper video source, the timing between lines is already handled correctly. However, issues may arise when an image processing block (ie video scaler) is inserted between the video source and the DisplayPort TX IP, as such devices may alter or disrupt the blanking intervals in the video stream.

Resolution

Users must ensure that the video input to the DisplayPort TX IP includes blanking interval between active lines.

Back-to-back video input without blanking interval will be supported in the next DisplayPort IP release,
