Yes, you can update the sensor registers while the device is in running state.
Lattice Sensor Extender's MachXO2 device based Transmit module, that configures the sensor, can be updated in background mode while it is still functioning in user mode. The device can be updated with the new image on the MachXO2 Tx by asserting a Refresh Command or power re-cycle. This results in the Sensor getting new updated register settings. This is one possible method to update the sensor register settings. However, you need to consider the following in this case:
- During the refresh time the device (MachXO2-Tx) is out of user mode and enters into configuration mode.
- There is Sensor configuration time as well.
