1304 - ispVM: How does ispVM recognize the USB cable?

  1. User must ensure that the USB driver is installed. The USB driver is different than the parallel cable driver but can be installed at the same time.
  2. Some machines do not recognize the driver installed during installation for the USB cable. In this case, user may try to autodetect the cable, ispVM will state that no cable is connected.
  3. Go to the Control Panel->System->Hardware tab->Device Manager
  4. Scroll down to the USB section; user should see one entry listed with a yellow exclamation point. Right click on it and select update driver.
  5. This will bring up the "new hardware" dialog. Select the option to browse to a specific location (advanced) and click next.
  6. Select the path to ispVM. For example: C:\isptools8_1\ispvmsystem\ and click next.
  7. If two options came up, select the one which shows the full path (C:\isptools8_1\ispvmsystem\....) and click next.
  8. The driver should now be installed. Go to ispVM->options->Cable and I/O Port setup. Click on Autodetect, the cable should be detected properly as Ez-USB (whether user have a board connected or not).
